Search Carbon County Court Dockets

A Carbon County court docket is the running case history kept by the court clerk. It can identify parties, filings, hearings, rulings, and an outcome when the information is public. To search the Carbon County court docket, first decide whether the matter belongs in Utah District Court, Justice Court, or Juvenile Court. Public district and justice case histories use a statewide search system, while each court remains the official records custodian. The Carbon County court docket is a practical starting point, but the holding clerk should confirm a date or provide a certified record.

Carbon County Xchange Search Fields

Xchange lets you search all court cases or judgments. Every click of Search is billable, and results cap at 500 records. Narrow a common name before running the query twice. The official Xchange help screens document every control and explain how each result opens.

The live application frame may look sparse until you sign in with an account. Clear Search Fields resets the query. A courthouse terminal often works better when remote docket searches become frustrating.

What a Court Docket Shows

Utah calls the expanded public timeline Case History or Extended Case History. That timeline is the working Carbon County court docket. The header ties the case to a court and a judge. Party blocks assign formal roles. From there, proceedings list filings, settings, minute entries, rulings, and the outcome. Staff enter them as they go. Keep one limit in mind. A public history does not guarantee that every document behind it can be opened.

Case NumberA numeric, year-prefixed identifier; the first two digits generally represent filing year.
PartiesPlaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, attorneys, and other coded roles.
ProceedingsThe dated sequence of filings, hearings, minute entries, orders, and other court action.
Hearing SettingsEntered events that may show date and type; confirm the current time and appearance method.
Court and JudgeThe location that holds the file and the currently assigned judge.
DispositionThe recorded result, such as dismissal, judgment, guilty plea, transfer, or satisfaction.

A criminal docket history may show charges, their severity, a plea, the violation date, the charging agency, and accounting. Civil histories lean on the caption, party roles, motions, orders, judgments, and post-judgment events. Where electronic document images exist, they carry a separate purchase link.

Carbon County Docket Search Costs

The official Xchange registration screen splits access between guest and monthly accounts. Guest use starts at $10. Each search costs $0.20. Available document images run $1 apiece. Monthly service carries a $25 setup fee plus $40 per month. That price covers 500 searches. Extra searches run $0.35. Paying the fees buys system access, not proof that any result is certified.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Carbon County has no single generic county-court counter. The Seventh District Court at Price keeps felony, class A misdemeanor, general civil, domestic, and probate cases. Carbon County Justice Court handles traffic, infractions, class B and C misdemeanors, ordinance matters, and small claims. That reach sits within its jurisdiction. Juvenile Court follows separate access rules. An appeal creates its own Utah Court of Appeals or Utah Supreme Court docket.

Carbon County Justice CourtTraffic, lower misdemeanors, infractions, ordinances, small claimsXchange, county calendar, or Justice Court clerk

A small-claims appeal by trial de novo moves to District Court as a new case. Federal matters are different altogether. A federal case tied to Carbon County belongs to the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, reached through PACER rather than Xchange.

Carbon County's Two Court Counters

The Utah Courts directory lists the Carbon County Price District Court at 149 E 100 S, Price, Utah 84501, phone 435-264-4640. Carbon County Justice Court sits at 751 E 100 N, Suite 1600, Price, Utah 84501, phone 435-636-3289, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The addresses matter. Each clerk keeps a different docket.

The county administration building at 751 E 100 N also holds the elected Carbon County Clerk/Auditor in Suite 1100. That office handles county-government GRAMA requests. It cannot replace the court clerk for a District or Justice Court case. Ask which court holds your case before you visit.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

A Carbon County hearing may surface in several places. Try Xchange Proceedings, the county Justice Court calendar, a filed notice, or a summons. The Carbon Attend Court page tells Justice Court users to select the scheduled hearing. Follow its video link when the event is remote. A Webex link may not appear until 24 hours before the hearing. Join 15 minutes early. Expect several cases to share one start time.

Missing a date, location, or link? Call Justice Court at 435-636-3289. For District Court, use 435-264-4640 or the holding clerk's current contact. A later order, notice, or clerk confirmation always controls over an older docket listing. The full Carbon County court calendar walkthrough also covers resets and missed settings.

The county's own hearing instructions live on its Attend Court source page.

Trust the live calendar and the clerk for appearance details, never an old docket printout.

Carbon Justice Court's Tuesday Calendar

Carbon County Justice Court sets first appearances on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. County instructions describe Tuesday hearings as first come, first served. That local practice differs from an individual appointment. Check the docket or notice anyway. Look for the precise setting. Confirm whether you appear in person or by video.

Setting
A scheduled court event, not a final result.
Continuance
A court-approved move to a later date.
Minute entry
A clerk's record of what occurred at a proceeding.
Disposition
The recorded outcome of a charge or case.

Request an interpreter about five days before the hearing when possible. ADA requests should reach Justice Court at least three working days ahead. These timelines are service instructions, not changes to any docket deadline.

Public Access to Dockets

Utah keeps court records under judicial records rules instead of routing every request through the county's Government Records Access and Management Act process. Most court records are open by default. Anything classified otherwise stays closed. Inspection at the courthouse costs nothing, but set charges can apply for copies, system searches, staff work, certification, media, and mailing.

Key Rules:

UCJA Rule 4-202.02 classifies court records as public, private, protected, safeguarded, sealed, or otherwise restricted.

UCJA Rule 4-202.03 allows any person to inspect public records while limiting access to nonpublic material.

UCJA Rule 4-202.08 sets charges and fee rules for records, copies, staff time, and recordings.

Utah Code section 78A-6-209 restricts juvenile records subject to narrow exceptions.

A downloaded Xchange screen is not the certified record. Only the clerk who holds the file can issue a certified copy or correct an error in it.

When Carbon County Cases Stay Hidden

A docket search that returns nothing does not mean no case exists. Sealed and expunged matters never show up in ordinary Xchange results. Juvenile cases live in a separate, restricted system. Adoption and civil mental-health commitment records are sealed too. Domestic cases can be partly open. You may see the case history, the public hearing, an order, a decree, or an appointment letter. Pleadings and personal details stay private.

Older Justice Court files were not all converted into CORIS. When a Carbon County search stalls, check both jurisdictions. Broaden the name, confirm the location, and ask the clerk about a paper or archived file. Utah State Archives holds many court records more than 50 years old. Newer material usually stays with the court that created it.

The Clerk and Docket Records

The clerk at the court location keeps the official record. District Court staff can help you find a public case file. They can order plain or certified copies. They can also route an audio request. Justice Court staff do the same for their own cases. A written request goes through the Utah Request for a Court Record process. The court usually answers within ten business days and may contact you about payment.

Access comes through several channels. Remote Xchange, free public terminals at most district courthouses, the counter, a phone call, or a written request all work differently. So do a phone call and a written request in their own ways. Bring the case number and describe what you need clearly. Restricted material may require proof of identity or authorization. The District Court records email listed in Seventh District material is pricedistrictdocs@utcourts.gov. Confirm the current channel before sending anything sensitive.

Carbon Treatment Court Docket Entries

Utah's problem-solving court directory lists two programs. One is an Adult Drug Court at Price. The other is an Adult Mental Health Court in Carbon County. Judge Brian D. Bolinder presides over Carbon County Adult Treatment Court. He also presides over Adult Mental Health Court. Judge Cas Melanson White presides over Carbon County Family Treatment Court.

A treatment track stays tied to the underlying criminal case number. The public case history may show a treatment order or program event. Treatment records are different. Medical disclosures and participant eligibility details are not presumed public either. Search the ordinary history first. Then ask District Court whether a specific program filing can be released.

How Carbon Dockets Became Digital

Most Utah district courts ran on CORIS by the end of 1998. Justice Courts converted at different times. Each chose how much old data to carry forward. District documents filed electronically since July 1, 2010 can appear in Xchange. The document and its classification must qualify. That gap has a visible effect. An old Justice Court file may look thinner online than a District Court history.

The Price courthouse was built for the digital era from the start. Officials broke ground in 2016 with digital audio technology in the plan. The official announcement described a $14 million, two-story, 32,000-square-foot facility. It holds two district courtrooms and one juvenile courtroom. Later Seventh District materials also document remote-hearing requirements and digital evidence practices. E-filing creates court events, but the attorney e-filing system is not a public docket search.

Carbon County Cases by the Numbers

Fiscal year 2023 statistics frame the District Court docket. They say nothing about an individual case. Carbon recorded 697 total criminal filings, including 376 state-felony filings. The same table lists 502 general civil, 457 judgment, and 85 probate filings. These are annual filing categories, not a count of cases still open.

Utah moved from static annual PDFs to public data dashboards in 2024. Dashboard totals track workload and trends, while Xchange remains the tool for case-by-case history.
